When working on the Lake house we come across all sorts of things that we know that we need. There are so many choices on vinyl flooring, window treatments, paint colors, also tools. It's amazing how many new tools we have needed.
Chris and I got John a set of Ryobi power tools for Christmas. Later we bought a weed eater, and a chainsaw. We have used the living daylights out of them already. We have had quite a few tool accidents too. John has smashed his fingers a time or two. We have bent bolts, lost pins, lost pressure in the pressure washer, and screwdrivers have sprouted legs and walked off many times, never to be seen again. The most used tool is a toss up, is it the weed eater or the yard tractor? They are used hand in hand on almost all of our trips.
I can not see how I could ever have lived without using my measuring tape at least once a week. How wide is the window? How long is the hall? How deep is the linen closet? Where did I leave it? This is a valid question. How did it get out here? lol
A set of questions that we do not particularly like is, "Do we need that, or do we just want it?". I must admit that I struggle with it probably daily to some degree. I think I get way ahead of myself and start decorating rooms in my head. The rooms may actually not need decorated for weeks, or months for some things. One way to be able to get some of the things that we may just want now, but will need later, is Craigslist. I have found lighting fixtures, paint and more paint, our fridge (limping along now),even a kitchen sink. Cami and I even found more counter top laminate than we can ever use, but trust me, we will try. (Will chat about this one later.) A few things that we are still on the lookout for are a couple of vinyl windows, a couple of doors, and screen doors too.
The list of supplies that we NEED is still as long as our arms. The list of things we WANT will never end. A house is a never ending story. It's that time again, so, ta ta for now, Beth
