The Farm:
The Farm:
I guess I should say that I use that term lightly as we do not have any animals there, except for our kitten "Ninja". The house mice and the robins and moles outside do not count either. What makes it a farm to me are the barbed wired fences, the sweeping pasture, and the outbuilding at the far end of the property. The property is a 2 acre piece with almost half of it up the hill in the form of our little slice of Heaven forest.
When we first saw the property it was taken over by all sorts of overgrowth. We didn't even know where the lot started and where it ended. The flower beds were so covered up that we couldn't see the beauty within. After John started peeling layer and layer of ivy, blackberry bushes, 4 ft high grass, and 50 ft pieces of vine off, we could see how very lovely it was going to be. I will say right here that my husband John has 2 hands full of green thumbs.
Let me share some pictures with you.
We could hardly see the stairs in there. The ground covering is lovely and that rock wall, wow!
There are Rhododendrons on all sides of the house.
The lawn has terraces and this is the upper yard. If you look way...way... down there, you see a big garage. That is not ours, but it is where our property ends. Gobs and gobs of yard to mow. Thank goodness that we already had a yard tractor and John doesn't have to push a lawnmower over too much of the yard. Occasionally he brings it home to mow the yard here at home though and he does have to use a mower a bit. It is a giant job to manage 2 properties but John has it clearly under control. Geeze, managing 2 homes is a job that I don't even pretend to have down. Wowzers! Ha ha, spell check wanted to change that last word (Wowzers) to boozers. Now that's funny!
This is the carport. As we get further and further into the dirty work you will see this again. Trust me.
There is a barbed wire fence in front of the chairs, so it is in the pasture that the chairs sit in front of a big fire pit. Seems that folks out there burn their trash except for recyclables. Ok...
A snapshot of a bit of the forest. This is a huge cedar. ( it hides a tree fort ) yay!
Another fire pit was found farther down. This one was where the former owners buried the bodies, lol not really but there was a whole couch, a couple of chairs, zillions of bottles, and trash with bones but I think they were animal bones. Of course, we don't know for sure.
This is the out building which I call the barn. It does have an entrance on the side to the right for some kind of critter and an area inside with hay for sleeping quarters. We found a bunch of bikes, an upright freezer, washer, range, furnace, and building supplies BURIED under a super thick layer of blackberry bushes behind the barn too. Amazing the things a person leaves behind. (get it? behind?) ha ha. I'm such a dork. lol Anyway... The barn has woodworking tools and other sundry building things inside too. This includes at least a thousand screws, like everywhere!
I could go on and on, and probably will, as long as I have you to chat with. So, Ta ta for now, Beth
